| Mission Update Dear Partners, Greetings from Tanzania! What an exciting time we are having here. Teamwork at Work The mission team from the USA arrived at The City of Hope on May 8th and is working hard. They are helping complete many details at both the mission center and the children’s home. They have been working tirelessly to finish the electrical, plumbing and sewage system, installing windows and doors, and other finishing work. The momentum is high and everyone is excited. We believe that in a couple of weeks, the Murrays will be able to move into their new home. (They have been staying with other missionaries who live nearby.) Several of the team members are master carpenters. It is great to have their expertise and skill on many of the building projects. It is wonderful to see people using their gifts to serve others. Besides the Murrays, on this team we have Dale and Loretta Martin who have been partners with Teamwork for many years. We also have my mother and father-in-law, Glenn and Velma Horst, Gary James and Ted Hagan. At The City of Hope, we see over and over how ordinary people can touch other people because of God’s love. Again and again in Teamwork, we are able to partner with people who refuse to let life pass them by and who have made a decision to make their life count. Our partners are people of destiny who make a difference in the world around them. We are glad you are one of them. Becoming Relevant To be relevant in our generation, like Jesus, we need to go to the market place with power and solutions and help people discover God’s love and purpose for them. Then we need to empower them to reach others. The empowerment of the poor will not come from the governmental or commercial sector, but from bottom-up development as we change mindsets. . Empowerment The great commission is not just about preaching but also about equipping and empowering believers. Formal and informal education, technical and vocational training and micro financing are all keys to empowerment. In light of the reality of chronic poverty and AIDs, it is our responsibility as a global Christian community to help develop an infrastructure that will support Africans to help Africans. That is what The City Of Hope is all about.
Right now many African nations are in a state of suspended hope. However, I believe that empowered Africans can break the cycle of terror, poverty, spiritual hunger, and mediocrity that keeps them subdued. This is the mission of The City of Hope: to assist Africans to move forward by providing them with resources and opportunities, enabling them to help themselves and provide for future generations. Teamwork believes that every human life is important to God and all people should be given the opportunity to lead healthy, productive lives. We want The City of Hope to serve as innovative model that helps people overcome financial, logistical, political, and social obstacles that prevent them from rising out of poverty. Thank you for making The City of Hope your city of hope for Africa. Please join us as we bring transformation in the spiritual, physical, educational, and economic spheres.
Opportunity We thank those of you who have helped to enable this vision to come to pass. God is using you to help make this dream come true. God Bless you, Dr. John N. Chacha Please email this

Provide Milk and Fuel
We just discovered, that not only will the cows provide milk but we can use the cow manure to produce biogas and use it for our cooking fuel. We have visited another orphanage that uses this and it works very well. This will keep us from buying bottled gas for cooking. This is one more step in making the City of Hope self-sufficient. Our goal is 15 milking cows and we are over half-way there. Will you help? · The cost is $500 per pregnant cow - ready to produce milk. or call
