| Dear
friends and partners,
My heart is overwhelmed and overtaken by your great generosity. It is
wonderful to see how many of you have positively responded and are still
responding to our newsletter. It is great to have friends and supporters
like you. Thank you for your giving spirit. It is amazing to see how much
we have been able to accomplish in such a short time. This is more than
we could have ever dreamt. We are at a point of no return. We believe
that we will be able to meet our schedule as planned. We have much to
celebrate. I know for sure that The City of Hope will be able to open
it's doors in just a few months.
I'm writing this from London on my way to The City of Hope.
First, I will be stopping in Dar es Salaam to meet some of our ground
team that is tirelessly working to make The City of Hope a success.
On this trip, I will be preparing for the arrival of the team as well
as for the Murrays, our missionary family who will be moving to the City
of Hope. Their presence there will reduce the frequency of my travel to
The City of Hope and enable me to do other things that require my attention.
Please pray for me and for the team that will be joining me.
I am
pleased to annonce that, while in Dar Es Salaam, I will also be pickinig
up our first vehicle for The City of Hope. I will then drive across Tanzania
to The City of Hope. It will be a two-day drive and will give
me the opportunity to experience another part of Africa. We believe this
vehicle will be a great help to all that we are doing. Up to this point
the only mechanized piece of equipment at The City of Hope is the tractor.
It has been amazing how much has been accomplished with so little equipment.
One thing I have learned through working and ministering in different
nations is that the poorer the nation, the more paperwork you have to
do to accomplish even simple things. Having money to purchase or do something
does not mean that you can do it when you need it. It has been a hassle
just to buy this vehicle but we thank God for our friends and our well-connected
ground team in Tanzania. The Lord has given us favor with a lot of important
people in high places in that nation. One of the reasons is because they
have recognized what we are doing for the nation. We also believe the
Lord's favor is upon our ministry. Because of this, we are able to accomplish
a lot with a single phone call. Once again, we want to thank you for standing
with us in partnership and in making a difference in the lives of many
people.
Since the birth of the vision of The City of Hope, I have had a fresh
love for the continent of Africa and her people, especially the children.
No wonder, my wife and I have adopted three new children from Africa!
Those of you who have followed our story know that this has been a long,
complicated process that had been finally completed. We welcome Sarah
(age 7), Rose (age 9) and Susan (age 15). Susan came in December and her
younger sisters came in March. Susan has been a great asset to help her
younger sisters adjust to America, to our home and to our school system.
The girls are happy for their newfound life and family in America. Our
house is full of new joyous songs from Africa. The girls love to sing
and play games. It is amazing how they have fit right into our family
and have such willing hearts to learn and to help. Looking into their
eyes, I see the pain and the suffering that they have gone through which
represents millions of other African children and yet I can also see joy
and hope for the future.
Once
again, thank you for your continuous support. Let us continue to build
The City of Hope. If you are not a regular supporter of The City of Hope.
We hope you can make The City of Hope your city, where you can help to
bring transformation in a nation in our generation.
God Bless you,
Dr. John N. Chacha
